We are certainly aware of avian influenza A (H5N1) and the concerns surrounding it, specifically in Europe and Asia.
Because our plant is not a slaughter facility, all of the chicken processed at our plant is grown and slaughtered by our suppliers. However, each of our suppliers has issued statements that they follow strict biosecurity measures, conduct regular testing, and take precautions to keep avian influenza out of their flocks.
In the event that avian influenza becomes a threat, we will assess the situation and take whatever precautionary measures are required to safeguard our products. But it's important to note that, according to the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention, there is no indication that eating infected poultry products can cause the disease in humans and that poultry that is thoroughly cooked does not pose a risk to health.
